John Hansen-Flaschen
As the Founding Medical Director of the multidisciplinary Paul Harron Lung Center at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and a practicing physician with 35 years of experience, I offer clinical consultations focusing on diagnostic dilemmas and second opinions in pulmonary medicine. My diagnostic expertise encompasses most rare diseases of the chest. I am the senior member of a multidisciplinary group of clinicians devoted to diagnosis and management of nontuberculous mycobacterial diseases and related chronic infections of the lungs. We are generally acknowledged as the mid-Atlantic Center of Excellence for management of these diseases. I am the Founding Medical Director of the Jay and Randy Fishman Program for Home Assisted Ventilation at the University of Pennsylvania. Our team offers comprehensive care for patients with chronic neuromuscular and thoracic skeletal diseases that compromise breathing, including amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), muscular dystrophy, spinal muscular atrophy, and scoliosis. Our services include ongoing care of patients who require long-term noninvasive or invasive mechanical ventilation at home.
